Madden 2005 and NBA Live 2005 just don't seem as 'smooth' as their
console counterparts... I feel my system is o.k. (2.8 GHz w/ GeForce
5600 OC to 483/881.... would a video upgrade smooth things out?

The reason is simple:

a) Consoles use a far lower resolution, chiefly because they deal with the
television screen's resolution.

b) Consoles are all homogenized. The system specs are all completely the
same on each console.

c) You don't need to upgrade unless you really REALLY need to play with all
the graphics turned on and maxxed. Turn off unnecessary stuff like shadows,
for instance.

You're right it does smooth out with all the details basically turned
'off' ... It seems at higher resolutions with everything turned
'on' these games would be gorgeous! I just don't want to spend the
money if even todays top video cards won't perform well at these
higher resolutions/game settings... Thanks for responding!

On the XBox, there is a definite jerkiness to some of the action, which
seems to plague EA games. But overall, console games are much smoother but
less graphically attractive than PC games.
