My 6 month old Dell was working fine and cranking out the tunes until a few weeks ago, now I get the occasional static / crackly / kind-of skipping and can't figure it out.
These are the things I already tried:
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled all related drivers.
  • All updates for Win10 and system drivers have been installed.
  • Tried a different set of speakers/cables and it did not help.
  • Tried various sources of music online and .wav files and the static remains.
  • Tried different power cords...did not help.
  • Disconnected the PC and connected my old Dell to make sure it's not a power problem in my office, the sound out of the old PC did not have static.
  • Took the battery backup out of the equations and it did not help.
  • I hooked up the speakers to the rear audio output, the front headphone output and the audio output from my monitor that is connected via HDMI and the static remains.
  • Tried changing the audio quality / frequency response and it did not help.
Any advice? My guess is the Motherboard or Power Supply.

Seeing that this is my business PC, I have a full Warranty Plus Next Day Service, I just like to use Support as a last resort.

might be something else is interfering with it.
added any new components? wireless keyboard/mouse?
Great questions...nothing new has been added to the PC or my Building that would cause interference (we don't deal with heavy machinery).
When I hooked up my old Dell, I used the same peripherals on it to make sure they were not causing the problem. No sound issues on the old PC.
