PC Spec Upgrade

At the time I didn't even know what a GPU was and I didn't ask for any help so I was stupid and bought it. Now I want to upgrade the CPU to a i7 6700 (non K) and maybe 16GB of RAM.
I don't have the money to save for a new PC, that would take me years.
Is it worth it? The CPU reaches 55 degrees celsius in load and always reaches 100% when I am playing fortnite. Would it be more worth buying a i7 6700 or 16GB of RAM?

You won't regret going to 16 GB of RAM. If you don't need it now, I think you will.

A 6700 will give you about 50% more power with the processor.

You could actually upgrade the GPU as well quite a bit.
