I believe my PC is getting dated and I am trying to see if it is worth being upgraded rather than starting new.

GoPro 4K videos stutter in Windows media player, but only audio comes through when viewed with VLC. Specs are:

Asus p5q Pro Motherboard
Intel Core (TM) Quan Q9550 2.83
8 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 TI

It is hard to compare the performance specs to what is listed as minimum specs for 4K, as there are so many component variables. I with there was a way to perform a hardware test of some type to score your system against minimum, good and better systems as a whole.

If I just needed RAM to make it work for instance I could add that. I assume the answers will be to not waste money upgrading, but I wanted to see if anyone has some insight.

Thanks,

I installed MPC-BE as that was the easiest version I see to install. Playing a video now it is significantly improved over VLC. There is a statistics view I turned on and I can see framerates of 5-11 for the 4K video on the hard drive, and frame rates of 9-16 reading the same file from the SSD.

Both still stutter but I could at least view it.
