Basically, my computer turns on. Everything inside the case seems to be working just fine, my fans spin, my gpu lights up, my CPU cooler lights up, etc.

But nothing else happens, it continues to run but there is nothing showing on my monitor, my mouse and keyboard don't light up, there is no sound. The computer does not beep.

I've tried plugging in only one peripheral at a time, but the same thing happens.

I've tried swapping graphics cards, but the same thing happens.

I've tried all combinations of RAM swapping, using only 1 stick, 2 sticks, 1st and 3rd slot, 2nd and 4th slot, even using no RAM. Same thing happens.

I've unplugged all my fans, and plugging them in one at a time, nothing happens.

I've even taken the processor out, and the same thing happens.

I've taken the PSU out, and replugging everything in. Same thing happens.

I've shorted the power switch, same thing happens.

I have 2 hard drives, I tried plugging only one in, same thing.

No BIOS, no peripherals powering on.

I believe this narrows it down to a motherboard or PSU problem, excluding the off-chance that both of my RAM sticks blew up at the same time.

ALSO!!!!

It should be noted that just prior to this, my CPU overheated for an unknown reason, causing my system to shut down (powered off, no error or BSOD.)

Another thing, I'm not sure if my onboard speaker (whatever causes the POST beep) is plugged in because I haven't heard it ever since I got a new motherboard last summer.

I have a suspicion it is my motherboard because while it is the same socket as my CPU, it is not exactly compatible.

MY SPECS:

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P
CPU: AMD FX-9370 (liquid cooled by Cooler Master)
RAM: 2 sticks of 4 GB DDR3 RAM
GPU: GTX 980 4 GB EVGA superclocked (ACX 2.0 cooling)
PSU: 700 watt

Any help would be extremely welcome, and I'm new to these forums and have been trying to help out other people who have problems or questions that I have answers to, as I feel bad about joining because of this question, but I plan to help people on these forums as I can.

Sounds like your motherboard isn't getting enough power. Check the power connections to the board. Remove the CPU and try turning it on, and if you get a beep code for CPU socket, I'm afraid your CPU is fried.

My computer does the same thing even if I take the CPU out of it.

Also, I know that my cpu really isn't meant for that motherboard, but keep in mind it has worked for months, though it has been underclocked.

And I've double and triple checked all power connections.
