PC Sudden Noise Spikes

Hello,

Recently I pirated Metal Gear Solid 5 which took a while to install because I had a few problems with the antivirus detecting it when it wasn't a virus. This part I am sure of as I personally know others that pirated this and have had no problems. During the process of switching off my computer and back on again to test if the antivirus deleted the file, I noticed that every so often (about every half an hour) my computer seemed to go into a turbo drive where it was really loud in comparison to before.

This has been happening for a few days now and I thought that with it starting around the same time as me pirating the game it might have something to do with it. Not sure though. I have had my case open now next to me so that when my computer suddenly gets really loud I can hear it and so far it has happened once but it's really difficult to find where it's coming from. I think possibly the Hard Drive.

Does anyone know what could be causing this spike in sound and what can be done to fix it?

Thanks for your help,
Cam.

Firstly, don't pirate things. Which you know. I don't know if this thread will be deleted or not because you pirated something.

If not, check temperatures and look in task manager to see if any processes use lots of resources, especially disk.

Yup I've tried looking in task manager both without the sound and then the minute the computer sound increases I hop onto task manager and everything seems fine as usual. Disc very low usage at about 3% CPU and memory at around 40% so nothing out of the ordinary.

I've checked the temperature of the GPU whilst this is happening too and that is low as usual at about 40 degrees.

Thanks for quick response.

Hi
The suspicion has to be that it is a virus causing the problem, especially as the anti virus detected one.
As for friends having no problems, could just be that they do not know that they have a virus, some are specifically written to be stealthy think key loggers and bot networks.

That is the part that I don't know. It seems like some sort of fan but I really don't know how to explain it. When listening in it sounded like it was from the hard drive but I am not sure of that because with your head inside a computer there are lots of noises that distract your ears.

I've also noticed that at idle without the loud noise, something inside my computer is making what sounds like a fishing rod reeling in but a little quieter. When typing or watching videos it blends into the background but If I stay silent I can hear it and with my head stuck in again I could hear it coming from somewhere near the Hard Drive or the Disc Drive.
