Hello,

I dusted yesterday with compressed air.
My programs (nvidia inspector and speedfan) are now showing my GPU temp about 10-20 degrees colder than normal.

Previously I would boot and sit just below 40c. In game (csgo) i'd hit around 50-52c.
Today I boot up and idle around 28c, game play brings it up to around 40c. Fan speed is staying @ 39% (i dont know how to lower it, its locked)

alt tabbed from game, had it running for 5 min http://puu.sh/hGY7T.png
idle, 10 min after closing game http://puu.sh/hGYnh.png

the airflow coming out of the PC is not warm.
It is not spewing hot air and displaying as cold. I haven't thermometer tested it but feels cold (warmer than the 21c air coming out of my vent)

hardware:
Intel Core i7-4770k @ 4.0
16 gb ram
850w Power supply
GTx780 EVGA
Gigabyte Z87x-D3H

edit: PC is running fine, room temp is constant.

did i just clean it really well or have i broken something?

Video card temperatures drop very fast when the load is removed. This may happen even faster how that things are clean.

I do not think CS:GO is hard on that video card either.

I would recommend a program that can also track the max temperature reached.

HWmonitor or afterburner both have this ability(EVGA Precision does as well).

Check your Nvidia inspector to make sure the fan is still automatic(it is in the show overclocking tab).

It would have had to have been VERY dusty for a 10 degree difference just by dusting - but, who knows.

You ask if you might have broke anything... well, how are we gonna know? Go and test everything, is anything broken?

PSU is working? GPU / CPU running at same full speed? When you booted up did it remove any overclocking settings?

Yeah i'm not so much concerned with the temperature drop time (from running to idling). I'm more confused as to why i'm all of a sudden runnning 10-20c colder.. =\
I'll look into HWmonitor. Yes the fan is on automatic, but it doesnt go below 39%

edit: HWmonitor is only displaying min/max temperatures from todays boot up. Perhaps becuase I just installed it?? Doubt its of any help.

everything seems to be working fine - though i'm not tech savy at all so i haven't actually "checked". I'm getting equal or increased game preformance since yesterday.
Boot up was fine and pc is running fine.
I also should have mentioned that I clean my PC with air once a week. It's not and was not dirty by any means. Perhaps a tad bit of dust in the fans.

I think it's very, very easy to drop 10 degrees by getting rid of dust. You're right that it would have to be pretty dusty, but I've "fixed" so many PCs now just by clearing out the dust. It can super-easily get right into the fins of the heatsync and blocks airflow pretty effectively.

How much dust did you get out? If it was a fair bit then I'm not at all surprised to see temp drops like that. As long as you're not getting poorer performance, it's probably just cleaner airflow.

Not getting poorer preformance (if anything its better, but not by a whole lot). I did NOT remove a lot of dust. As mentioned above (you mustve missed it casue you were typing your reply), i clean it once a week every week.

Yeah - I caught your post after I'd posted mine. That is weird then I agree.

However I wouldn't stress if I were you. Lower temps are good. As long as you're not noticing worse performance then you don't have a problem.

Thanks. Yeah i'm mostly curious and worried that I may have broken something considering the sudden low temps (not that my temps before were particularly high, i dont think).
