Yesterday while playing Watch Dogs my PC switched itself off with no warning, just a black screen and it powered down. About 5 seconds afterwards it powered itself up again.

This happened frequently through out the day which is weird because I had been playing the game for hours beforehand and had no problem of the sort.

I tested it with another game, Wolfenstein the new order, and the same problem happened even though I had played the game for almost a week with no such issues.

I had this same issue maybe a month back while playing other games, which was shortly after getting a new power supply. The problem persisted for a few days and then seemed to stop.

I checked the temperatures of my hardware while in game using Speccy and my GPU went to around 65 degrees celcius, and the CPU to around 50.

Could this be a faulty power supply?

Solution
1-check your psu and graphic card on your friend psu to check the fault
2-check the thermal paste (thermal compound) on cpu and gpu
3-go to bios and factory reset it..
4-lower the game setting and see what happens..

I followed the other steps but the issue continues.

What I have noticed though is that it seems to turn off when a game gets graphics intensive

For example, I went on to wolfenstein and while playing I went into settings and turned one of the options to ultra. The moment I clicked apply my PC reset

Then when I went on to it again, my PC reset when I clicked on the options button

Could it be that my graphics card is overworking my power supply unit? Because I'm confident that my graphics card isn't the issue.

I'm going to swap my current PSU with my old one to see if the problem stops.
