Yeah, power seems to be going into the components, CPU fan etc are spinning but then switches off,
before this problem i was able to bring up bios and stuff(No operating system installed yet) but i had a CMOS issue(tried resetting it) and i tried to get the battery out but it was impossible to get a good grip on it so i switched it back on and now it powers down after everything starts running. theres signs of power still in the motherboard(2 lights on) Nothing is ever shown on the monitor during any of this.

i got a feeling the MB is buggered up because we had the cables wrong earlier on for CPU/Graphic card, but when those were sorted the BIOS came up and i could look around in that OK.
edit: it reaches 9.9(power off sequence)in the POST code definitions part of the manual
