Hey everybody I want to upgrade my system from the core, so I decided to spend about 300-350$ for a cpu / motherboard and ram. Can anybody suggest any combo? Thank you.

Solution
You don't need the Z170, but it's nice to have.
It's a decent quality board and for 90$ it's an excellent choice. way better than any B150 or H110 and not much more expensive (than decent B150/H110) if at all.
Basically, you can go K CPU if you want. just pick 2x4GB ram (enough for today, upgrade at some point in future) and get the 6600K + CM 212 Evo for 20$ more (considering the ~30$ saving from RAM).
Or you can drop in an i7 K later when you have a budget and need to upgrade. if you sell your i5 it will be ~100$ to upgrade.

@badactor I have a psu-006 550watt, the case is a bit old but it has enough space for all types of motherboards. My main cause is running some simple games like lol,cs:go, pro,nba 2k, etc while browsing and maybe solidworks (mechanical enginnering software) or photoshop (nothing special). I know that these tasks are quite simple but since it's the first time iI'm building a pc I would like it to last for at least 4 years so I'm aiming for an i5 instead of i3 (upgrades to other parts will come gradually).
@n0ns3ns3 I was thinking something really similar to your suggestion, my only question is about the mobo: Do I need a z170 if I'm not planning to overclock?
Thank you both for your quick answers.
