I just got a new pc, are these specs fine?

Motherboard: Ga-78lmt-usb3
Processor: FX-6300 6 Cores @ 4.0 Ghz
GPU: PowerColor R9 290
Power Supply: Thermalmake Thoughpower Grand 1200 watts.

Is it good gaming pc?

Assuming you have 8GB RAM and a 64 bit OS you should be fine. The 1200W power supply won't be very efficient, because the load will be too low. An SSD for the OS would be good. But you should be fine.

It should not but that CPU should be able to get around 4.5 if it is a decent chip and if you have a good cooler. Event at stock speeds you should not get much of a bottleneck if at all.

Since you already have the computer, why aren't you just testing it to prove to your self? Is returning it an option that you are trying to evaluate? Before the purchase your question would make sense. After purchase, test it, and have definite evidence.

Its quite unbalanced, a 1200w psu and a 760G motherboard, you'll not be able to overclock well with that board, also no crossfire for you, i hope that you got it cheap.

You would be much, much better off with a real motherboard. That board has bios support for FX cpu's but that is where it ends. Any board that isn't a 970 or 990FX chipset was actually designed before the FX cpu's came out and doesn't meet the actual hardware requirements to properly supply the voltage needed for a FX cpu. especially the six and eight core versions. A cheap board that fits the bill is the GA-970A-UD3P. It has 8+2 phase power and the vrm's and northbridge have decent heatsinks. Any board that comes with integrated graphics is not a good match for a 6300 or 8320 etc.....

The MSI would definitely work (and I generally recommend them); however, I would think about getting something such as the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 which is a bit better quality. The Gigabyte has a heatsink over its VRMs which should help with OC a bit as it will not allow them to get as screaming hot. It also has nicer features such as right angle oriented ports.

8gb ram is more than enough
You should get no bottleneck unless a cpu intensive game

Amd is cheaper for those who want to do heavy stuff like video encoding intel tends to be expensive for heavier stuff. But for game intel i5 or i7.

Garbage board. There are many accounts of the vrm section actually bursting into flames. The G65 is ok and the G80 is very good.

Agreed. The UD3 Rev. 4 is a really good board.
