PC thinks headphones are always plugged in

Recently encountered a problem where even when my headphones are not plugged into the port at the top of the tower, my PC will attempt to play sound out of them and not my speakers. I can manually switch them back and forth, but the process is tedious and I used to be able to do it automatically.

Try updating the driver through device manager.

Tried that a couple of times. Also attempted to uninstall and reinstall drivers with no luck
