Pc to stereo with hdmi

wanted to no if i can connect my laptop to my stereo with hdmi cable as to get a better/bigger sound as my toshiba l750 seems to have poor output from headphone jack ,*** sound n not much volume would appreciate your advice ta

click the speaker icon in the lower right hand desktop and raise the volume.
