PC to tv problems VGA

Hello,
Everytime i hook the pc to the tv screen and start it up the picture doesnt show on the screen. But then I hook the computer up to my old monitor and the screen shows fine. I then hook it up to the tv while its on and the screen shows up on the tv. How to I keep it to show on the tv screen on startup?

What are the components...tv,monitor, computer and the resolution of them.
It could be as simple as the res for the monitor is not supported by the tv and so it won't display. or you need a driver for your tv...
