Hi ! I have a sony XBR55X900E and a pretty decent pc with a gtx1070. I've read a bit about trying to get 120hz on my tv because for example when I go in the video options for far cry 5 (1080p) I cannot go higher than 60 fps. I've tried creating a custom resolution with the nvidia control panel and it seems to work just moving my mouse I can see the difference.

I am wired via HDMI because there doesnt seem to have any other inputs than that and I've read that I would have to use DVI to get 120hz because hdmi is stuck at 60hz.

Is that still true ? Is it possible to get 120hz with my pc on my tv for gaming ?

Also even though I've created a custom resolution at 120hz it still shows 60hz when I go to windows display option.

thanks !

Solution
get 120Hz or above monitor, if it possible, get the 120Hz + GSync monitor,

the higher the resolution, the badder GPU+CPU combos you'll need, you can try lower the graphic detail to medium from high
