I have had my current PC for over a year without any issues (at least of this nature), but for some reason when I went to turn it on this morning, the case lights turned on as usual, but after about 30 seconds of the fans beginning to spin, all of the components flashed (I mean their lighting flashed, not that they were on fire). anden turned off. This happens every time I try to turn on my PC now. I have cleaned all of the fans and everything but I'm still not able to turn on the computer for more than a few seconds!
Any help would be much appreciated.

Solution
Sounds like it could be a overheating issue, do you see anything on screen to maybe try to get to the bios to see the system temps? This might be a simple case of just replace the thermal paste. Otherwise, I would go through the normal trouble shooting steps.

I'll try the thermal paste now

This worked... ...for the computer not shutting off, that is. Now the RAM isn't lighting up/working (I had to remove it and put it back in in order to remove the heatsink. I'm not sure - should I create a new discussion thread for this problem or is it okay to ask you here?

Make sure that there is no dust or anything on in the slot or on the ram pins itself. Make sure it is the same slot and make sure it is seated in all the way. Other than that, go through normal testing. If you still need more help, make another thread.

alrighty thanks
