I have just finished building my first PC only to have my computer turn on and off. It turns on for about 15 seconds, then turns off, then turns back on in about 5 seconds. The RAM is in the right spot and everything is plugged in correctly.

Well what have you built moistnapkin.? List your system specs.
The powering on and off initially is the Bios identifying your RAM and sort of like a training program to set your DRAM Timings. If it boots to your OS then it should be OK and you can then check with CPUz what the Bios selected. If it does not past post and just shuts down or halts during post then you have an issue.

i7 6700k CPU
T-Force Night Hawk 16 gb RAM
GTX 1080 GPU
EVGA Supernova nex650G PSU
Gigabyte z170xp-sli Motherboard
S340 Elite Case
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler

it's just black. The computer turns on, then off, then on, then off again. Nothing shows on the screen. And also I just built it so there isn't any OS installed yet. I think it might be an issue with the RAM, as it is supposed to light up and when the computer is on the RAM doesn't light up. I'm new to this however so I don't know.

First ensure your Bios is up to date and FYI, the i7- 6700K officially supports DDR4-1866/2133MHz RAM so if the RAM frequency of your modules exceeds this then they are considered OC RAM and may not work without Bios intervention. Your XMP profile may not work so you will have to set Primary Timings (SPD) info manually.
List your Bios.?
List the Part No of your modules.? (there are a number of T-Force Night Hawk kits available)
Are you able to access Bios.?
Have you tried to boot the system with just one module in the first slot initially.?

I can't get to the bios because my computer won't properly boot. That's what I'm trying to fix. I believe the RAM is clocked at 3000 MHz but I'm pretty sure that's not why my pc won't boot. I'm guessing it's a problem with the power supply, but I may be wrong.

Try make sure once again that every single little detailed piece of your build is properly fit. A lot can go wrong on hardware side. Try changing RAM Slots. Plug them, one in CHA_1, second in CHB_1 or try both in CHA_1,2 or both in CHB_1,2.

Check your motherboard's manual and how they suggest you to install your RAM. Check on the motherboard if you can find any specific error lights. I've been with ASUS and they have error lights for CPU, RAM, SATA and GPU and it's all described in the manual.

Yea thats a problem with the MSI MBs. You can't update the Bios without being able to access Bios.
OK then as asked before, please list your RAM P/N. New DDR4 RAM is being released each month and you should check the MB QVL to check for compatibility. Your MB supports up to 64GB of 2133MHz RAM.
It seems to me that your not able to complete Post cycle which would not continue till rectified.

I looked at my MB manual and the RAM was in the correct slots.
