Hey guys,

I think I just realised my answer but I want to get clarification.

My current setup was 2x zotac gtx 1080 amp extreme sli and i7 6800K and it was running perfectly with corsair RM650X psu, made a post about it before where everyone told me it was fine and has been working fine.

Yesterday received my 2 titan xp to build another desktop, waiting on other parts, so I thought I'd put in the sli and test it out, i can play cod iw on maxed settings and a few other games, but games like cod bo3 which I play on 1080p and render to 4k at 120hz the pc turns off, also the same for gta v.

I then realised i was running on a 650w psu,and a titan xp uses around 400-450 on load, so Im guessing my psu isnt strong enough to handle 2 titan x?

Is this correct?

and also should I still use 2 1080 whilst I wait or, just use one titan x, really wanted to see what performance I get.

thanks for reading and responding.

This definitely sounds like your PSU can't handle the power draw. If you put your specs into PartPicker it can tell you what your system's minimum power draw is based on the TDP the manufacturers of all the components inside your PC have stated.

The power supply probably isn't capable of running both of those cards at once.

I recommend trying each card separately. Run each card in several games to determine functionality of each card.

What is the model of your motherboard? I don't think this is your problem since it ran 1080 SLI but I'm curious.

On a previous forum post the 650 was just enough to handle 2 1080 sli, apprently I was lucky enough to get a good psu. So I did some testing, I didnt really want to take my desktop out, cause its under my desk and real heavy, so I disabled sli, and I can run everygame so I think my psu isnt enough to handle sli titan x. I believe that a titan x will use around 300w of psu so for 2 around 600w, not to forget they also turbo boost clocks, im running 6800k, 3 HDD, and around 7 fans, a fan controller and my MB is MSI Gaming 9 ack X99

A single NVIDIA Reference Design TITAN X Pascal 12 GB Card will draw up to 268 Watts during gaming.

When adding a second card in 2-way SLI mode the second card will draw less power than the primary card. Usually the secondary card in the SLI set draws around 80% to 90% as much power as the primary card.

485 Watts just for the two TITAN X Pascal graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode would be expected. You will also need to add the power consumption of the motherboard, any other expansion cards, any storage devices, cooling fans, ..., etc.

Question then, if the 1080 has a similar TDP (https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GTX_1080_Amp_Extreme/27.html) why is it then it cant run titan x sli, I also forgot to mention, that games like ark survival can run it and other games, and COD IW can run, but when BO3 or GTA V runs it just dies, I also put them to render in 4k, maybe thats why?
