Hi guys!

I really need some help. A couple of days ago I ordered a new i7 CPU (2600) to replace my older i5 3470. So I replaced the CPU with the new one and put back on the cooler. After that I turn on the PC. Fans are spinning for like 2-3 sec and then my PC turns off again. After that I put back my older CPU and there were no problems starting up. Is the i7 CPU broken or what? I really don't know what to do. Did some research on Google but that didn't helped me a lot. When I ordered the CPU I did look if my MB supprted it, and it did. I'm using the ASUS p8h61-i lx r2.0.

What am I doing wrong?

Solution
OK. Have you tried removing the CMOS battery between CPU swaps to clear settings? Could be something there causing an issue. The 2600 was supported in the original BIOS, so that shouldn't be an issue.
