Hi!

First of all, big thanks to the community for helping people in need on your spare time!

I have a problem where my computer decides to randomly turn off my wifi.
Sometimes it turns it completely off, sometimes it just restarts the adapter. There has only been a few times where i'm not able to get it back on what so ever, even after reboot. Only thing i can do to fix it then is to physically unplugg -> plugg the adapter and then everything is fine again.

This happens MANY times per day, at ANY given time, doing ANYTHING on my computer.

Wifi Adapter: ASUS USB-AC56
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

PC specs:
SSD - Samsung SSD 850PRO 256GB
PSU - Corsair AX 860i, 860W PSU
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-Z97N-GAMING 5, Socket-1150
CPU Cooling - Corsair H80i GT Hydro Series CPU Kjøler
RAM - HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Black
CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K
GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB PhysX

Things i've tried:
- Swapped out my old ASUS USB-AC56 for a new one. (was thinking it was faulty)
- Formatted my pc completely and tried without installing any programs, just windows update.
- Updated my BIOS to the latest F5 version from gigabyte.
- Unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in power management.
- Updated and downgraded drivers for the adapter.
- Tried my adapter in other pc's / laptops and on other wifi's, no problem what so ever.
- Have disabled all other network adapters. (mobo has onboard intel)

Things i haven't tried / don't know how:
- Read through Event Viewer (no clue how to read this "language"
- Run a crash / disconnect tool to see what's causing the reboot/shutdown of the wifi (don't know any)

Okay so, i am close to snapping as i've spent weeks now trying to figure out this annoying, painful issue. I am sure there has got to be a way of solving this, but my brain just ain't smart enough to figure it out. I need help.

I'm also starting to worry this could be hardware related, as i've swapped the adapter AND completely formatted to computer without any luck. But the computer is self built, with extreme caution and is not old at all. (and everything else works perfectly)

Any help is greatly appreciated, and i will be watching this thread like a hawk for suggestions / tips / similar issues that may help fix this.

Hope someone can help me :)

Solution
then check the motherboard with a magnifier you could have a bebbled capacitor or something else that buurn also in the same time see if the north and south bridge are not loose on the board and jiggle . another thing if ytou have a hdd with a win 7 os on it try it in the system to see if it will crash in case it is a win 10 issue .

I tried to be thorough in my explanation, but obviously i wasn't thorough enough.

I have tried all my usb ports both rear and side cover, both usb 2.0 and 3.0, and no it does not heat up alot, just normal room temp +/-.

The temperature might be cooler on this unit because it uses a cable that let's it sit ontop of my desk and not under behind my computer. See picture here :)

I have also tried directly plugging only the usb adapter unit into all my usb ports without using the cable/station.

Hi again!

Had to remove my appendix so haven't been online for a week +/-

Have tested with WhoCrashed now the last 2 days and so far i haven't gotten a single crash dump when i hit the "Analyze" button.

Am i doing something wrong??

Anyways, the internet is still crashing / restarting on my pc, nothing's changed on that front.

EDIT: I tried to run a manual crash with the program and it seems to be set up correctly. So i guess this won't work to see the crash report of my wifi adapter shutdown.

Here's the report of the manual crash test:
On Sat 8/27/2016 11:25:05 AM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\082716-7500-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: rspcrash64.sys (rspCrash64+0x108B)
Bugcheck code: 0xDEADDEAD (0x0, 0x0, 0x1965B3E6, 0x3C2A58ED)
Error: MANUALLY_INITIATED_CRASH1
file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\rspcrash64.sys
product: WhoCrashed
company: Resplendence Software Projects Sp.

This bug check belongs to the crash dump test that you have performed with WhoCrashed or other software. It means that a crash dump file was properly written out.

then i would suspect the usb wi-fi adaptor it could be overheathing or asking to much power on the usb port and made system crash could you try aanother wi-fi adaptor to see if crash occur and check if someone could test it in is system to see if they have crash . for the whocrashed if it dont find minidump that means the system dont have any .

Thanks for replying.

I have tested the adapter in different computers and it works flawlessly, no problem. The adapter never gets hot, only room-ish temp. I have tested another unit of the same model on this computer, before i swapped it out with this one, same problem.

How can i check if the adapter is asking to much power from the usb port? I would assume a regular usb port would handle the adapter?

Do you know any other good crash report programs i can try to check for wifi diconnect / wifi crash dump?

Please read my first and second post again.. I already tried every usb port and tried updating drivers manually and automatically from detection. It can't have anything to do with this.

Hi,

It's crashing several times per day again now. There is no pop-up error or anything like that. I just lose my internet connection.

Openened up my computer, went over all my cables from the PSU as suggested, nothing that isn't plugged in correctly / loose connections.

then check the motherboard with a magnifier you could have a bebbled capacitor or something else that buurn also in the same time see if the north and south bridge are not loose on the board and jiggle . another thing if ytou have a hdd with a win 7 os on it try it in the system to see if it will crash in case it is a win 10 issue .
