So this problem started a couple of weeks ago, my PC only turns on SOMETIMES, when i turn it on, all fans spin, everything running but no display whatsoever, monitor light stays orange. I say sometimes because out of 15-20 tries sometimes it does boot and it remains on for as long as i want it to with no problems, but if i do have to restart or turn it off, the problem comes back when trying to boot.

A few things to note: i tested monitor, psu, gpu, ram and ssd/hdd in different pc, these work fine.
Also, motherboard and cpu are about 7 years old if that makes any difference.

Is it normal for a cpu or mobo to fail to boot like this but when it does boot it works perfectly?
Am i looking at a dead cpu or mobo? If so, how to identify which one?

Specs:
AMD FX 6300 3.5 GHZ
MSI 970A-G43
CM Hyper 212 EVO
2x 4 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz
GTX 750 ti
SSD Samsung EVO 950 250GB
EVGA 500B

Solution
The problem may be from RAM, MB, or CPU.

Because you did test the RAM in other PC, so like you said either the CPU or MB has problem. If you don't have compatible parts, ask someone for help, like local PC shop. But if you want me to guess, I will say the problem is from MB.

One thing I've noticed is that my 212 hyper evo heatsink is making a lot of pressure on top of the cpu, i remember it took me a lot of pressure to screw it in, like way too much, is this normal or could it cause damage to the cpu?

So my only option is to find compatible parts to test CPU and MB huh? Looks like I'll have to start looking for new MB, meaning time to make the jump to ryzen, new cpu and ram as well
