PC turns on for a second, then turns off.

Hey guys I have been having this problem for a few days now. When I try to turn my PC on, it will start the fans for a split second, then shut off. The weird thing is, however, if I try a second time to turn it on it works fine. Could this be a power supply problem? Or possibly the power button on my case is going out?

Okay so I came onto some new info. Apparently I don't need to press the button a second time. It shuts off then starts again after one button press. what could be the cause of this?

Well, the thing is that it used to turn on right away. no weird turn off and THEN on. I have never had a PC do this type of thing before. thanks for the reply though

Yes, something odd is going on. It isn't clear what. Scan the computer for viruses.

Okay I will try that. I didn't know a virus could have adverse effects on a PC before it even posts. Odd.

I'm not sure what is going on. But you have to start trouble shooting somewhere.

The problem was fixed with a BIOS/UEFI update.
