Hello guys,
So this problem came last night. I didn't do anything to my computer. I just powered it on after 1 day and it is not turning on. So, I removed the case Power Switch and tried turning it on by shorting the Pins with a screwdriver, but it still didn't work. I removed the graphics card and tried, no effect. Then I put back the Power Switch header from case and tried turning it on again, this time the PC turned on for like 0.1 seconds and then it turned off.
Today, I removed everything from the case and I assembled the computer on top of a cardboard box. First time, I plugged one stick of RAM, CPU and the CPU cooler. I turned it on by shorting the pins again, and it turned on, the fans were spinning. (My motherboard has no onboard display port). Everything seemed fine, so I assembled the whole PC including graphics card and everything on the cardboard. Tried turning it on again, the PC turned on, Fans were spinning but the fans of GPU did not spin.
So I removed the GPU and tried turning it on again, it didn't turn on. I have a 350W PSU laying around, so I tested the computer with that (without GPU & HDDs). I also attached a speaker to the motherboard. It still turned on, fans spin, no display and no beeps.
Then, I reseated the CPU and tried, no luck. I checked for any visible damage but there isn't any. No burn marks or anything.
So I was highly frustrated, so I gave it my last shot, and I removed the HSF and turned on the computer with my fingers on top of the CPU to see if it is heating up, I found out that the CPU is not heating up. Then I removed the CPU completely and tried turning the PC on without the CPU, hoping it would give me ANYTHING (beeps, etc.) but it gave me the same behavior. Now I don't know what to do.
Note: When I power the computer, the lights of keyboard and mouse turn on. Does this mean that the power is running good?
Results:
Tested with 2 PSUs, same behavior.
Tried breadboarding the computer. (turn on with 1 RAM, CPU and no drives)
Tried putting together PC outside the case.
Tried without RAMs, no beeps or anything.
Do note that sometimes it doesn't turn on, the fans just wiggle and stop. But after trying 2-3 times, it starts but no display just spinning fans.
The phase LEDs on the motherboard are like
DD1 - Green
DD2 - Green
DD3 - Yellow
DD4 - Red
I don't have manual of my motherboard, so I don't know what these lights mean.
Specs:
Intel Core i7 2600K (NO OC)
Gigabyte GA-PA65-UD3-B3
8GB Kingston RAM
Corsair VS650 Power supply unit (other one is Powerman 350W but VS650 is my main PSU)
Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 Windforce 3X 4GB GDDR5
Cooler Master Hyper N520 CPU Cooler
160GB SSD, 1TB + 250GB HDDs.
Chassis are Casecom Buster VS-93
My apologies for the long post, I really need some help. I know something is wrong, but what is wrong? Is it the CPU or the motherboard or something else? Is there anything else I can do? Help will be appreciated guys.
Thank you!
