PC turns on, then off, then on again but no display

So I just put together a new PC. It turns on, runs for like 3-5 seconds, then turns off. It then automatically turns on again and it stays on. However, it won't display anything on the monitor. Anyone know why this is?

Specs below
Cpu: Xeon x5650
Mobo: Intel dx58so
GPU: Radeon 7950
PSU: Thermaltake 500 watt

(I don't think it is a power supply issue, because I was running a 125 watt phenom cpu and the Radeon 7950 with it in a prior build, whereas the Xeon is only 95w)

Plenty of people have already run Xeon x5650 processors on the motherboard I have. Most x58 motherboards don't officially support xeons but almost everything I've read shows that it makes no difference. For example: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2640713/x5650-dx58so-intel.html
