PC unuseable

I have Medion p4101D windows 7 .My PC started going slow occasionally a some time ago, what would happen when I clicked the mouse for something to happen the screen would freeze and I would usually have to exit the screen by logging off. This sort of problem then started to happen more frequently until now the PC is unuseable. I cannot get F11 to take PC back to factory condition . I've started in F8 safe mode but this will not work.. Have used start up and repair: result failed error code=0 X 490. Left my PC on then went back later and it had on screen: American Megatrends then a few lines and at end it said : Port0 Device error F1 to resume
Any comments would be appreciated?

If the system is under warranty, contact the vendor for a new hard-drive with a new OS on it. If it's not, you should try a new hard-drive and isntall Windows on it, but for that you will need restore disks from the vendor.

My PC warranty was 1 year and finished in February 2011, but I took HD out and it is a Western Digital caviar green they give 3 year guarantee but not on mine because the product is an OEM sold to another manufacturor and they can only offer technical support is that normal or should medion in this case honour a 3 year guarantee for HD?

Up to the vendor about the warranty. You'd have a full listing of what is covered, but a drive is not very expensive anyway. You would need to get a set of recovery disks from them though to re-install Windows on it.

I have a Medion AG recovery disc with windows 7 home premium written on it and it says "may only be use for back up", also an application and support disc but the Medion instruction manual I have does not mention how to use these discs?

Boot off the CD, should have directions to follow after that. Basically, click Next, OK, etc.. and it should restore the system to original. Make sure you get a new hard-drive to use first.
