Hi people,

I currently have:
- i5-6402p paired with MSI H110 PRO-VH;
- Gigabyte RX 460 2GB
- 1x 16GB ram
- PSU Corsair CX550M (grey)

I would like to upgrade my PC, mainly going for 1080p 144hz gaming, eSports, PubG etc, not really going for new AAA titles.

I want to get a i5-8400 - i can get one at £140 - the alternative would be a ryzen 5 2600 but the price is £160 for one and I think the i5 outperforms it. I assume the PSU would still be enough as the i5 has 65 TDP and the GPU would be around 180 TDP tops.

In regards to the video, i was thinking to hold on to my GPU for a few more months then go for either a:
- 1070 if they get around £330 - £350 ;
- 1070ti if they get around £375;
- 1060 6gb - currently going at £240, similar to RX 580 but no Freesync.
- RX 580 - not sure about this one, currently the price is £260 - hopefully if can go lower at around £220 and make use of Freesync?

Which monitor would you recommend? My budget would be around £200 (based in UK btw).

I've shortlisted these:

ViewSonic XG2401 - 24" 144Hz FreeSync - usually at £230 but can get it at £200
the XG2402 can be found at £250 - is it worth the upgrade?
AOC G2460PF - 24" 144Hz @ around £220
Acer GN246HLB - 24" 144hz @ £180
ViewSonic XG2530 - 25" 240hz 1080p Freesync @ around £280 - is it worth to pay extra framerates? is it 1080p too low futureproof?
AOC AGON AG251FZ - 25" 240hz 1080p Freesync @ £199.99 - refurbished - same as above.

What is your opinion on this? Do you have any other suggestions for monitors?

Solution
Since the final choice of your future GPU has big impact on monitor choice, I would suggest waiting with buying monitor until you decide which GPU to use. Of course, you can go the other way around - choose monitor first and then decide on GPU based on monitor properties, but since GPU cost more then monitor, this may limit your choices.

Solution
HI, thanks for your answers, I agree with both of you, however I'm selling my current monitor soon (a 60hz) so I need to buy a new one. After checking some more reviews I think I'll settle to either ViewSonic XG2401 or the refurbished AOC AGON AG251FZ, both at £200. I'm leaning towards the AOC as I could always get more frames regardless of the GPU.
