PC Upgrade CPU/GPU?

Hi, having a bit of bother of what I should upgrade next. Here are my current specs:

i5 2500k 4.5Ghz
Cooler Master Siedon 120V
Z77 Extreme 4 AsRock
8GB 2000 DDR3
600W PSU
MSI GAMING X RX 470 4GB
250GB 2TB HDD


To do me another couple of years max, should I upgrade to a 2600k?

I was thinking of moving to:

I5 6500
8GB DDR4 2133
Asus Strix B250F


Or upgrade RX 470>1070
but I'm not sure if it's a side grade or upgrade. My machine is a gaming machine and have no idea what to do.

I have a 1080p monitor if that helps.

Any advice/recommendations will be very appreciative. Lurked for years but first post!

yes the I5 is the way to go but I would do the I5 -7500 its cheaper

470 to 1070 is a good upgrade, your 2500k isnt a bad chip, it may slightly hold you back in some newer titles but going from a 470 to a GTX 1070 will be a much bigger performance boost.

Thanks guys for your answers! But it's left me still unsure. What would be the better option?

A)2600k
B) 2500k + 1070
C) 7500 + 470?

I would try 2500k+1070, you can always upgrade cpu/mobo later

PS: try it a few quick days of gaming if happy enjoy if not (see issues) return card blame incompatibility due to older pc, and get the 7500 package with 470... but I think it will work nicely for you.

I would also choose Option B.
One thing to do before you put in your new card is update your computers BIOS to the latest version, some older motherboards need updated BIOSes to run newer cards.
