PC Upgrade query

Hi. I have recently decided to go full pc (just sold my switch, nothing coming out for me that is announced) so PC is my only gaming device. I'd like to upgrade it , not just for now but for "next gen" too. Current spec below, I was thinking of upgrading cpu to an i7 and RAM to 16gb but I'm no expert, any help would be appreciated

Intel core i5 7500 @ 3.40ghz
MSI h270 pc mate (ms-7A72)
8gb ddr4 ram , single channel,
GTX 1060 6gb

Your i5 is still really good as far as gaming goes, you should only really consider an upgrade once your pc starts struggling in games, which should not be the case just yet. Good luck

7700k/7700 should be good upgrade for a couple of years to come. 8gb RAM would be good as well, making it dual channel which that platform is intended for.
If you do not have a SSD already, you should think about that as well. Makes a world of difference in performance.
Finally, depending on your screen specs, a better card can give you better performance as well.
