I would like advice on upgrading my gaming PC.
Currently I'm only playing games like Fallout 4(3 & NV), an old FPS run & gun game and an old Battlefield game so my current PC was fine. Lately though I've been itching to play new games like Red Dead 2 and Jedi FO.

I'm thinking of reusing my existing case(Coolermaster CM 690 II ATX Mid), keyboard(G910), mouse(G602) & monitors ideally. I have a bought copy of windows 10 so I should be fine on that also.

Details on current setup are below

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: next 3 months or so)

Budget Range: $1000 cdn

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, watching movies, internet browsing

Are you buying a monitor: No, at least not right now.

Parts to Upgrade: CPU, GPU, mobo, RAM

Do you need to buy OS:
No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Canadian websites/stores

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada

Parts Preferences: I've traditionally used Intel chips and Nvidia gpu but am open to changing

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

I currently have 3 1tb hard drives but have a 1tb SSD coming for Christmas so the OS will be installed on that.
Right now working with i5-2500K, 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws(2x4gb) and the gpu is a GTX960

Thanks in advance.

I’d go AMD with that, 12 threads vs 6, overclocking vs none and a much beefer GPU that’s closer to a 2070 than a 1650

Does the AMD Build not require a CPU cooler like you did on the Intel build?
