pc upgrade suggestions

I am looking to upgrade my PC

dell
Intel i5 3470 @3.20Ghz
8GB DDR3 running @666.1Mhz , single channel as per CPUZ
Nvdia Geforce GT640
500GB HDD
mother board is 0M9KCM

I want to upgrade so it opens 3ds max, autocad and outlook excel fastly...( 3D and CAD apps just for reference to projects but open mostly)

If you just want things to open quickly adding a simple ssd and putting your programs and os on there will do the trick.
