USD. Got it. Do you need a monitor, keyboard and mouse included in this build or just the tower? What are you looking to do with this Gaming, Video Editing, Development?

If you've got $1500 US to spend, there's no reason not to go with an Intel build. I'd probably keep the case and depending on the manufacturer and model number, the power supply for the new system and try and sell your current core system (CPU/Mobo/RAM) for some extra cash.

I'd probably be looking at an Intel Core I5 Skylake processor, Z170 motherboard, and DDR4 RAM. Depending on the intended usage, you may want to consider a graphics card upgrade as well.

You would also need to consider your Operation System options. If you're currently running Windows 7 or 8/8.1, you may be able to re-install it on your new system. If you're running Windows 10, you would need to purchase a new license.

Your CPU doesn't even need an upgrade. The 8350 is a perfectly good CPU. It's not worth spending hundred of dollars to get rid of an 8350 system to buy 1) a new motherboard 2) a new i5, 3) ddr4 ram, 4)a new copy of windows.

Just buy yourself a new R9 Fury X or 980 TI and you're set.

Here's what I'd consider as a $1500 "upgrade". Anything that does not have a price next to it is being salvaged from your current system.

yes it actually is, very much, especially with gaming. He will see upwards of 50% increase in fps depending on games, along with much better frame times.

and he can get some money back by selling his old outdated components.

you dont need to buy a new copy of windows

Unless the OP currently has a retail version of Windows, per the license agreement, they will need a new Windows license for the new motherboard.

While Microsoft *may* be lenient and allow the OP to reuse the license on the new upgrade, I think it's safer to go ahead and get a new one (especially since even with the new license, they're still well under their proposed budget) since they won't have to worry about installing the old OS, updating that, and the upgrading to 10.
