Hi all,

My last PC build was back in 2012 and my PC has been collecting dust the past 2 years after the motherboard was destroyed in a move.

Since then Ive been using laptops. I've finally got into a position where I can upgrade my old Rig. Components for my last build were:
CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-3570K 3.40 GHz 6MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1155
MOTHERBOARD: * [CrossFireX/SLI] GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H Intel Z77 Chipset DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ IRST, Lucid Virtu MVP, Ultra Durable4, 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, Display Port, 3x Gen3 PCIe X16, 3x PCIe x1 & 1 PCI
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 4GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Video Card (x2)

only thing that i need to upgrade are the Motherboard, CPU, Memory and Graphics Card. This is what im thinking.

AMD RYZEN 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6 GHz (4.4 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 65W 100-100000071BOX Desktop Processor

ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING AM4 AMD B450 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15D-16GVR

GIGABYTE Radeon RX 5700 XT GAMING OC 8G Graphics Card, PCIe 4.0, 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6, GV-R57XTGAMING OC-8GD Video Card

wanting to stay under $1200

I recommend you buy a new system all together without using any old parts.

The 2400MHz RAM is not a good idea on a Ryzen 3700x. It will cripple your performance. Ryzen 3000 should be using 3000/3200/3600+.

That motherboard is not a x570 or a B450 (Max) edition so it will need a BIOS update to support the 3700x. You need to buy a B450 motherboard that has the word MAX in it or a motherboard with flashback function where you can update the BIOS without a CPU installed.

Your current PSU is probably old and not up to shape for that 5700 XT. You will probably have to change it. What is it?

Is that 1200 USD and do you need a monitor in that build?

This build doesn't have a case and Windows 10 license but it has the best I think you could get for that budget. A 970 evo plus for your OS with 250GB. Enough for the OS and a 1TB for the games and the rest. Do you need an HDD?

You could get a 3600 instead of a 3700x for 100 less.
