Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my computer. Use will 95% be for gaming (and browsing and streaming). Primary bottleneck looks to be the CPU but to upgrade that I need a new motherboard and DDR4 RAM.

My graphics card is a GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER.

I was looking at something like:

RAM - HyperX Fury HX432C16FB3K2/16 DIMM DDR4 (Kit 2 x 8 GB) 16
Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Processor

The mobo I'm more unsure of.

I was looking at the MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX Motherboard mATX (https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-B450M-...rboard+mATX&qid=1592072802&s=computers&sr=1-1 )

which is nice and cheap and should run it as far as I know. Looking through other recommendations though and it never seems to come up. Is there a reason it's not highly regarded? I imagine it's missing some features but would it affect gaming or is it more than it's unsuitable for overclocking or something else? Would it be worth going for a different mobo for around £100?

Thanks,
Tom

Cheaper boards will have less features, weaker VRM's, which can limit boost clocks, with certain CPU's. That cheap board, that you linked, lacks any heatsinks, for the VRM's, and that can...

I found my motherboard by hitting windows key and R Then typing msinfo32 in the run box then I think it's listed under either motherboard Product or base board product. And then after you look it up just make sure it looks like yours

I don't know enough to give other advice Just that right now prices are high because of the human malware :D

Thanks for the heads up. I know the motherboard I have and that it's definitely not compatible with Ryzen processors (I tend to use Speccy which seems pretty good for checking components).

Just trying to work out what you actually lose with cheaper motherboards.

I was hoping for £330 or less but could probably stretchto the higher amount. Does the higher clocked RAM make a significant difference?

Once the B-550 boards come out is it likely the price of the B-450 boards will drop?
