I have upgraded the cpu from ryzen 3 2200g to ryzen 5 5600g on a320m-s2h but system don't boot good.
The following things happen.
* Or systems don't boot and cpu fan stops after a few seconds.
* Or systems don't boot and cpu fan stays turning.
These first 2 options happens most of the times.
Sometimes I get the following, but always take a long time to get the bios boot menu.
* The system boot and then runs windows in normal mode and after a few minutes the computer stops, screen go on black, but pc itself stays on.
* The system boot and run in safe mode with network and then it looks like the computer runs decent.
This is already the second 5 5600g cpu, the first 1 I returned because I thought it was faulty with the same issues.
PC have following
* 400W logon power suply
* Gigabyte A320m-s2h upgraded to F56f
* G.Skill DDR4 2666 Ghz
* NGFF 2280 128 gb m2 ssd
* Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250 gb
* 7200 RPM 500 gb hdd
* and 2 fans. That's all, so in my opinion the 400W power suply must be enough.
I turned back to the ryzen 3 2200g and when I boot the system it started imediatly and that's what I use now.
What can be wrong? I think it's not a termal issiue because the CPU stays on max 55 C.
broken mainboard or broken DDR4?
Or something else?

Did you update the BIOS prior to changing to the other CPU?

Is that CPU listed as compatible with a certain BIOS? I suspect it is, but did not check for you.

When you made this swap did you also change the cooler? Was it new or used, by way of was the cooler pasted?

If this was a used CPU, did you check that none of the pins are bent? New too, but that would have more likely been something you did as them coming that way new is pretty rare.

Did you perform a clean install of the OS? Driver update for the chipset?

The CPU is supported with this mainboard and the bios update is the latest 1.
I used the new stock cooler with good cooler pasta. the same I use now and with few screens open the ryzen 3 2200g runs at 27-30C at this moment.
It's a brand new CPU, otherwise I couldn't return it for a new 1.
Not updated the OS yet, first I hope the computer boots normaly.

Having only one stick of RAM shouldn't be causing this.

Do you know anyone that has a compatible motherboard you could try the newer CPU in?
In a read, it appears to me that you have performed the proper steps both in preparation as well as troubleshooting. IMO this seems to be pointing towards a bad CPU.

That is what I thought also, but then strange I have the same symtoms with this CPU as the first delivered.
That's why I really don't have any idea, and had not really planned to update the whole pc to verify the problem.
But a good idea, I forgot the daughter also have a PC with an A520m board and also DDR4 ram, so I will gonne try those parts first before I will buy new parts.

When I had this problem, it was DDR related. If I used two 8 GB DDR4 it wouldn't boot, and if I used only one 16 it worked. Apparently one of the slots was malfunctioning. The exact thing happened to me, it would turn the fan, but nothing would happen. I bet this is RAM related. If you could just try another memory and see if it works.

Thanks for you advice, I already planned for tomorrow to change RAM from another computer. If that will not help, I go try the motherboard from that computer. I will update here what was / is the solution.

I found out that when I use 1 monitor, the system works fine, but when attaching 2 monitors, the computer don't start.
Does somebody know if the motherboard is broken then? With the original ryzen 3 2200g the 2 monitors are working fine.

no, it's not a software issue, the computer don't even go to bios.
try reinstalling the drivers using ddu anyways, for me one monitor worked and another higher resolution didnt when i upgraded my a320 s2h with ryzen 1400 to ryzen 5600g, but after reinstalling drivers and setting my graphics priority to onboard in bios it works. but you have to switch back to dedicated gpu if you use a graphics card in the future..
