Sorry if you keep seeing me pop up I'm not tech savy but am trying haha...

Firstly My motherboard is a Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3.

I currently have a Nvidia GTX 970 4GB Gigabyte and I was thinking of buying a:

Nvidia GTX 1070 G1 8GB GDDR5 PCI-E for £413.

Secondly I have an intel i5-4590 3.30GHz and i was wanting to buy a:

Intel Core i7 4790K 4GHz Socket 1150 8MB L3 Cache Processor for £332.

So are these worth the money and worth the upgrade?

Honestly, I dont think it is worth the money to upgrade unless you have cash to burn. While the 1070 is better than the 970, its only 1-1.5 tiers better and definitely not worth the $500 you would have to spend for it.

Your CPU could use some updating, but again I dont think its necessarily worth $400.

My suggestion is to get a nice SSD (samsung 950 pro) and your cpu will be essentially as fast as a new computer (under normal use). Wait a few years, save, and upgrade your entire system then.

Agreed - the video card is a step up, but a fairly incremental one. The CPU upgrade is relatively minimal in terms of gaming performance. I would not recommend it.

As snurp85 mentioned, the SSD will make the most noticeable change in daily use.
