I am thinking to make a small upgrade, especially to CPU. Atm the prices for the RTX 2000s or RTX 3000s are absurd, and even hard to find in my area, so atm i would stick with my GTX 1070, and i would first change the CPU.
Had a discussion with a friend and he recommended me I3 10100, which performance is almost like an I7, and much cheaper, and ofc, even better than my I5 4690k.
Now, would you recommend me such CPU, or you have better suggestions? If so, then which motherboard should i get to fit better with the new CPU?

Solution
Nothing at intel, just the list. I am interested in intel. Still, I7 10700k should be good enough? Price is decent i see.

a i3 10100 is NOT as good as a i7 10th gen in any aspect besides price.
We need to know your budget for cpu and mobo first

Review of that cpu w/benchmarks. Look for Core i5 11400F + Opt on the benchmarks.

What country are you located in Europe?

Nearly forgot about RAM upgrading too, thx.
So, i should go for I5 rather than I3? I7 is good too, but since the power consumption is almost double, then other options should be better, especially that the difference in performance is not that big comparable with the price.
