Question Pc upgrage cpu or gpu cost/performance

Current cpu/graphics: Intel Core i5 3470 (4 core, 3.1 GHz)/MSI 1060 6gb

Upgrade alternative 1: Intel Core i5 ->Intel Core i7-8700K Coffee Lake () hexa core 3.7 GHz

Upgrade alternative 2:MSI 1060 6gb -> RTX 2060 6gb

What alternative would give me more general performance

I think your current CPU and GPU are pretty well matched.

I wouldn't go higher with the GPU because I think the CPU will have trouble.

So.....out of the two options I would upgrade the CPU.....then it can handle a better GPU.

You will need more than just the CPU if you went with option 1. You would need a motherboard and DDR4 RAM.

It's a tough choice for me. I think I like the idea of upgrading your CPU because you are already being limited in a lot of games because of your i5-3470.
