Im building this pc for my dad. Want basic pc that can put blueray .mkv files onto a 4k tv. watch netflix and other online 4k streamers on the tv. and some day if they ever figure it out. 4k mkv files.

please tell me if i have any holes in this system.

The ram is from a current system that i need to update the ram on.
the cpu is cause the raw mkv files need some power to push through when watching live.
i have 1 or 2 HDD that im going to throw in to for photos but those are already purchased from a failed project.
My biggest worry about the entire system is the GPU. wanted to use the RX580 from my current system but not sure its powerful anough for this setup.

i have one of these in a current build but the system gets a lot warm when i do any thing but idle. and it would only be used few hours at a time. vs my almost always on system

Ryzen 3200G and no dGPU.

Why a full ATX build and not a mATX or mITX?

Also, WD Blue SN550 = $70 is the newer faster version of the one on your list.

going atx cause i want a decent gpu.
going with the 3600 cause live transcoding needs a good processor. the 3200G will not cut it. will barely run a 1080 transcode for a 1080 monitor, let a lone pushing to a 4k TV.
the SSD keeps flipping everytime i go look. now that i know that is the correct one. i will watch for it.

Uhhh, I hate to say it, but that's simply not true.

Not sure if you're ACTUALLY transcoding, or simply viewing, but I'm watching a full-fat 1080p BluRay movie right now on my AMD A8-5600K downclocked to only 2GHz. It does perfectly fine transcoding those files as well. Not a speed demon, but it gets the job done.

But, I won't win this argument, so buy the $220 GPU for watching movies. Or do your own research.

i have tried playing .mkv files on low end processors before. i can do it but the quality is crap. also want a decent gpu in MY tower to play games and my rx580 is showing its age, plus its a HOT card. hence throwing it into the 4k tv small tower.

i agree if the file is already transcoded, i could run it on a 6 year old i3 laptop.
and i have ran that same file on a 7 year old a6 laptop. as long as it was the ready to view file. .mkv files are almost 10x the size of the ready to view files.

Why not give/sell your dad the RX580 and you can get the upgrade?

My RX480 (same as an RX580 except for clockspeeds) uses 87W (average, max/peak of 104W) when clocked at 1266MHz/950mV (FurMark and/or F@H). Under full load the fans are only barely spinning (literally the lowest rpm they'll do before going passive). 850rpm @ 63C after 10 minutes of FurMark. (20C ambient temp). Since the RX580 is so overpowered for the task of 4k video, you could easily downclock it more to keep it in passive mode.

Some mITX cases have worse airflow than others obviously.

thats kinda what i ment. the rx580 i have linked is the one i have in current build that i want to put into his pc. budget is most likey coming out of my wallet.

i have been seing the ryzen 5 1600AF running around. i think that actually works better for me.
the ram is also part of my current system that needs a boost. 16 is just not cutting it.

I think the Tomahawk max (although it's a great mobo) is quite overkill for this build. Now that you're on a 1600AF (which I agree with) you can get something for around $70-80.

the ram i am reusing from same build pulling gpu from.

i think with how the psu prices are bouncing right now. i think i will find a good one when i actually get close to ordering parts. currently about to replace the entire ac system in my home.

do you have a mobo that is good quality for that 70 range without loosing to many features. otherwise i will get the max and when i get that server i want to also build. find a new cheap board and use the max in the server.

been hunting last 6 hours and finaly put the correct thing in google search and got my answer about what is actually needed to do what i want. aparently the ryzen 5 3400G is the only integrated that is capable of doing what i want.
