PC vs Laptop

I have i5 GHz, 6GB ram, 1 GB nvidia VGA laptop.But i worked in my university lab it has i3, 4GB, on board VGA desktop computers but it can see they are more powerful than my laptop .they boot up fast and response faster than my i5 laptop .What is the reason?

PC has better upgradability. Maybe that i3 has a ssd? PC has better graphics than laptop because you can choose a strong graphics card then put it inside a PC.
And you can change that i3 to an i5 or i7 depending on the motherboard of the pc. But laptop is different. No specific form factor. You need an mobile Graphics Card to upgrade it (no one sells mobile Graphics except oem.) and the most of all. PC is cheaper than laptops based on specs. Laptop became expensive due of portability but quality is still cheap.
