PC will drop internet connection after a few hours of use

My desktop has a wired connection, and after a few hours of use, it will disconnect me from "most" of the internet. If I'm playing a game, I'll stay connected, along with any chat software and videos and sites that have already loaded. I won't be able to connect to new sites though, and some of the images that are on the already loaded pages will stop loading.

This started happening to me on windows 7, but has transferred over to windows 10 when I upgraded. I use realtek ethernet controller driver if that matters.

Who manages your router?

Depending on the make and model the router may have logs available and, if the logs are enabled, you may find some error messages there.

If the "hours of use" time is consistent could be some power saver kicking in or some time-out/time limit setting.

If the time is not consistent then you will also need to look at your desktop's Event Viewer logs. See what is being logged just before or at the time of the disconnects. Serious problems will be indicated by red or yellow icons. Right click such log entries for more details.

I have an Actiontec v1000h. The router log only really says this about my PC disconnecting, but it's not at the right time.
2016/13/11T04:22:32 (GMT-07:00) Ethernet Ethernet client disconnected

I've disabled a few of power saving features on my PC, but the problem still persists.

I checked windows event viewer, and this happened shortly before the network dropped
The NetTcpActivator service depends on the NetTcpPortSharing service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

"not at the right time" - how far off is the time? Is the time difference consistant?

Google "NetTcpPortSharing service" - you will, as I did, find multiple links. However, I felt it best not to just thrown links at you.

Take a look at a few of the links that come up. Refine your search phrase as necessary to narrow down the resulting links to those that match both your system and circumstances as closely as possible.

Be wary of any links that come up claiming that they will fix the "NetTcpPortSharing service" problem. Most likely those sites will show up no matter what problem you search on.

The objective is for you to see if you can indeed find some specific links that do address what you are experiencing. Many factors involved so the details will matter. Read carefully and look for specifics that match your system and setup.

The difference between when the router said it was disconnected and when the pc was disconnected was a few hours. I don't always have the PC on for that long so I'm not sure about how constant it is, though I'll start logging that.

I found that "Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service" is a service that is disabled by default, so I've enabled it, I will report back with results.

Alright, so my previous fix hasn't worked, but I did find this in my event viewer when it happened again:

The description for Event ID 0 from source PublicWiFiService.exe cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Windows-Socket-Fehler: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full (10055), auf API 'connect'

I had a lot of this specific error, the log was full of it, so I looked up the problem, and it went back to a program called "MyPublicWifi" which someone uninstalled to fix the same issue, I've uninstalled it, and will report back with whether it worked or not.

*EDIT* This seemed to have fixed the problem, thanks for the help Ralston18!
