EDIT: replaced the ram with two vengeance 1600mhz 2gb sticks and it starts up fine now, still don't know the issue with the new ram

Hi, so I'm not mega clued up when it comes to the advanced stuff of PC builds but I'll do my best to explain the problem. this is what I'm running. It's my first proper build.

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI
CPU: Athlon x4 860k
RAM: corsair vengeance pro series ddr3 2400mhz
GPU: sapphire hd 7790 1gb
PSU: corsair cx 430 m
OS: windows 8.1

So I set up the build about 3 weeks ago and it ran absolutely fine. My only issue was that I realised my RAM was optimised for Intel systems (this is where I think I've been a noob and done something wrong) so I went in to the bios and selected one of the profiles that correctly read the ram as 2400mhz etc etc as it previously recognising it as 1300 or something. That was fine. No issues. Ran great for 3 weeks until today. I come home from work and start up the pc, bios options come up, then to windows loading screen for a split second, then nothing. So I reset my bios and start it up again and it's fine. I go back in because I want to set the ram back to the right profile and it does the same thing and doesn't start up windows properly.

I can only assume the issue is with me setting the ram up in the bios. I've changed nothing manualy because i wouldn't trust myself to do it right, all I did was select 'profile 1' and that correctly showed the ram as 2400mhz with the right timings etc.
But if this is the problem then why did it run fine for 3 weeks prior? I'm sure there's definitely something I'm doing wrong or shouldn't be doing at all so if someone could point it out for me that would be great :p

Thanks

It doesn't seem to be starting up at what the mobo default reads the ram at now either! (1333mhz I think?) so I can't seem to start up windows at all. There is literally a flicker of the windows logo and that's it. I guess ill test with some different ram when I get in and if not I'll try OC the Athlon ?
