I'm an idiot first and foremost. I wanted to build my own pc but probably never should have. Everything was fine until I tried updating the bios. I've researched a ton but still can't fix it. Computer will turn on and then go back off, things still lit up but nothing. Can't even get to the bios screen anymore. Motherboard is an Asus hero viii. I've tried flashing the bios but maybe I'm missing a step? Please help lol.

Verify this is indeed your motherboard... (manual)http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/MAXIMUS_VIII_HERO/E10343_MAXIMUS_VIII_HERO_UM_WEB.pdf

If it is, you're in luck. That board has a BIOS recovery mode. Look at page 132 of the manual I linked above.
Section: 3.11.3 ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3
Read very carefully and triple check you've downloaded the correct BIOS for your motherboard. Or you could start by using what is probably an older BIOS version on the Support DVD that came with your board.

These things happen to the best of us, don't get discouraged. Building your own PC is fun, and there is always tons of help available should you run into problems.

P.S. It would also help if you listed ALL the components you're using...

Had to rename the cap file after my motherboard. Asus maximus hero vii so file read mh8.cap and motherboard was able to read the file off the flash drive.
