PC will not POST after upgrading to dual core!

Hey everyone, thanks for reading.

Recently I attemped to upgrade someone's computer, however, it did not work.

These are the pc's specs:

Motherboard: Micro-star MS-7325
Intel Celeron D 3.2 ghz
2814 mb RAM (probably ddr2)
ati radeon xpress 1250

I bought a secondhand intel E8500 and built it in, the computer went on and the fans were spinning, but no screen. Changing it back to the celeron D made it work again.

I also checked the compatibility with the motherboard and it should work fine, also the TDW is the same.

Is there something I'm missing?

update your mobo bios and try again. it should work

Yes, check the original bios revision number. The 8500 came out years after the celery dual core you list.

2nd hand it maybe bad. Do you know for a fact it was working when it was pulled? I cant double check compatibility as the model you posted pulls up a motherboard that uses an AMD cpu.

I actually found a bios update, so I think this is the problem. however it will not update because the bios is write protected, is there anyway to unlock this motherboard?

Now that I think of it.. it is a pre-built pc from acer.. an aspire t671

contact acer customer support....see if they can tell you about the bios update.

I will. Thank you for your quick reply. It is kind of ridiculous that the offer a bios update on their website specifically for this model and then won't let you install it!
