I have to turn the pc off at the surge protector. When I click the shutdown option in w2k pro, the red light for the hard drive looks like it chuts down and the screen on the monitor goes blank, but the power light on the monitor is still on and the power light on the pc is still on with the fans running. I'm not sure what to check for or where, but if someone can tell me, I can surely fix it. If you need more info, I can give more detail if this is not enough.

as calv said, check your bios for power management enabled. also go in control panel, power settings. There should be a tab that says APM. Go there and say "Enable Advanced Power Management"
That solved the problem on one of my machines
