In desperate need of help... the iPhone cable I had plugged into my USB has touched a plug in my power strip. The end of the iPhone cable sparked and shut off my pc. Now it will not turn on. Any help please ?

Solution
Thats happened to me a few times as my carpet seems to be a static magnet but luckily nothing has blown. It may be worth unplugging all devices and resetting the CMOS and trying to boot again. Try options with 1 ram stick instead of 2....best of luck.

If you are lucky, sometime after about 30 minutes you will hear a "click" from the psu , and it will power up again.

I had a similar issue with a store built PC, there was a screw stuck behind the mobo that moved and shorted out the USB lines randomly; it did this multiple times before I traced the problem. Each time the psu wouldnt restart until a safety cut-out cooled down and reset.

Dont forget to check the obvious like fuses in the plug, etc.
