Homebuilt Desktop has been working perfectly for 3 years. This morning I turned it on and none of the accessories started up. So my best guess is that the motherboard went bad. I replaced the little battery on the motherboard and the screen came on for 60 seconds. Then the whole computer shut down. If you have any suggestions I am all ears if not I want to replace the motherboard with an upgraded version. The current motherboard is an gigabyte ht3.0 am3+. The whole system powered by a AMD 8core. Any suggestions on what I can replace it with?
Thanks in advance

I guess if you feel its the board [kinda sounds that way] something like this should be fine and easy on the bill fold right now

http://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/990fx%20extreme6/

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157576

my buddies son has the extreme 9 990fx and claims he is happy with it and that extreme 6 is a newer released board so it got the better updated support on it out of the box as well

though I still would not use any of the AMD 220w CPU's on anything anyway , nothing but issues with them and why all that power draw to start with ?

your just asking for issues with them
well ??? if you cleared cmos and that sets the bios to default settings if windows was loaded with the sata ports set to ahci to will not boot on the sata ports default ide setting so you will need to change that back to ahci .

this must not be right '' gigabyte ht3.0 am3+. '' so maybe link the gigabyte page of your board

http://www.gigabyte.us/Motherboard/AMD-Socket-AM3-Plus

if you can find a PS/2 connection keyboard and mouse it maybe able to work to get you going if like the usb failed or what ever ?

Right. Gigabyte GA-990FXA is what I have.
I'm not good with software so cmos, sata ports, ahci is all Greek to me. But I'm assuming because I replaced that little battery I now have to reset my bios. Which I could do if my monitor would turn on. It has power just won't come on. So if my ports won't work how do I set it the way it's supposed to? Thank you for your help computer guru

all in its manual . hard to say a device could of failed and cause this or the psu or maybe just the board ?

''Thank you for your help computer guru'' I'm no guru just learned process of elimination process trouble shooting .

thing is if you have to go buy new parts to test with and you don't hi t it right with the first part you buy and not the 2ed or 3ed you may as well do a new build anyway

'' Gigabyte GA-990FXA is what I have'' -- ok now theres like 5 revisions of that board ? seems the rev 3.0 was not a good one and was known to get overheated and that could cause premature failures .

Thank you for your help. I start getting into building a computer every 5 years or so. That's when I start research and start getting into it. Until then I stay clueless. What mobo would you recommend for replacement? I will do some tests but suspect the board to be the problem
