Hello guys I've got some problems with my pc.
I have a levono Y700 Ideacentre deskop, bought it in july, 2016, so not too old.
It has nvidia GTX 960 2GB, 8GB ram, 1TB SSHD, 120GB SSD. The problem I have is that i can't find out what motherboard i have. There is no information given on Lenovo's site, nor the certified third party seller I purchased the machine from, making it a little hard knowing what can work and what can't.. :S
So now i bought an intel core i5-7600k, MSI geforce GTX 1080 Aero OC, A new power supply; 750W (from 450W cause of the graphic card), and an additional 8 GB RAM.
Both the new and old RAM is CL 15, 2133Mhz DDR4 SDRAM, the only difference is the new one has ECC and the old one doesn't.
I found out on another forum that i might have to update my motherboard BIOS, because the new hardware i bought doesn't work. I would get to the BIOS menu prior to the update, the new CPU was recognised, but I couldn't get the machine to boot normally (ERROR 0167 was displayed).....
Post-update of BIOS the system now will not start with two RAM's inserted. It goes into a beep tone error message (3 short, 1 long). With either the new or the old separately it works. CPU status is unchanged apart from BIOS date.
Is there any hope for this to work with the motherboard, or should I simply invest in a new motherboard and stop smacking my head against the wall?
Thanks a lot in advance!
TL;DR
Machine won't go past BIOS with new CPU, and goes into beeptone error with dual RAM. please help?
