Question PC won’t boot after upgrade

So I recently upgraded from an i5 7500 and a cheapo Asrock Motherboard to a z370 MSI gaming plus mobo with an i7 8700k. I’m not really a pc expert but I’m reasonably sure i connected everything the right way; however, the system simply won’t boot. Other specs: EVGA 500w 80plus silver psu, gtx 1050ti, samsung 860 evo 500gb ssd, and a 1tb Toshiba HDD. Also, none of the fans spin when turned on.

I have the activation key for windows, the problem is the hardware. Nothing spins at all. The good news is that i can send it back for a refund and get some parts that will work

Now that I have reinstalled my old components, the system still won’t boot. Could it possibly be the psu?

Do you get any lights on the motherboard or is everything just dead? Have you checked the power switch on the back of your PSU is turned on?

I have checked. None of the LEDs come on for any of the chassy or cooler fans

That sounds like your PSU is the problem. Could the wires from the PSU be damaged?

That very well could be the case. I’ve just ordered a modular corsair 650 watt 80+ bronze

it’s just really unorthodox because before transferring parts, it worked perfectly. However, I may have accidentally put the case on one of the cables, which may have been too much pressure

So I received the new psu and installed it... and the pc still won’t boot. I’m beginning to think that i may have damaged the power switch cable. I ordered a new case, but if that’s still not the issue, I’m going to try to purchase the necessary components to resolve whatever’s going on

Is the inside of your PC dusty? Have you checked all the slots and power sockets on your motherboard for any dirt, lint or pet hairs tht may be preventing a proper connection?

I thoroughly dusted the pc before installing new parts.
