PC won’t display on TV

I’m pretty new when it comes to computers and I built my first build yesterday and it seems like everything is working. But I plugged in an hdmi cable to my pc and then into a TV I have and it doesn’t show anything. Should it be showing me something on the TV or do I need a monitor

Do you have two separate displays?
If so, are they both connected to the graphics card? On-Board graphics? Both?
What are the full specs of the computer?

I have one display which is a tv I plug my PS4 into usually. And the parts I have are:
EVGA GQ 650w psu
Rx 560 gpu
Ryzen 5 1600 cpu
Gskill fortis ram 2x8gb
B350 tomahawk plus mobo
1 tb hdd
250 gb ssd

And my case is a NZXT s340 elite

Is the TV using the HDMI port of the graphics card or the motherboard (should be using the HDMI of the graphics card).
Can you try and boot your system into safe mode? If so, do you get a display then?

I have it in the gpu but how would I get it into safe mode when I don’t have any picture on the tv?

Shift+F8 or just F8 during the boot process might get you in (assuming Windows 10).
You might need to connect the system to a normal monitor first and then set up a custom resolution for your HDTV.

Yea I will be using Windows 10 but I haven’t even installed an OS yet

So you think if I plug it in a monitor it should work?

Yes. Connect to a monitor to make sure you're getting a signal at all. Otherwise I'd be checking the graphics card. If you do, then shut down and connect the TV via a second cable to the graphics card. See if you're still getting an image on the monitor. If so, try changing the resolution/refresh rate of the TV in the AMD Control Center (Crimson?)

Got it working on my tv. I had the same issue with my PS4 when I first got it I just have to turn on my PC first then the TV. Of course I still plan on getting a monitor
