Question Pc won't boot after changing cpu

I had an Intel Pentium G4560 in an MSI H110m pro-vd motherboard. I decided to upgrade to an Intel Core i5 9600k 3.7GHz.
When I installed it and pressed the power button everything would turn on along with a red light on the CPU motherboard LED. Then it would turn off after less than a second like I was trying to start a motorboat.
I've tried updating the BIOS and clearing the CMOS but nothing seems to work.

If I put in the old CPU it works just fine.

I'm nowhere near knowledgeable about computers, I know a few thins and I plan to study a career related, but I still don't know a lot of thing so I might just have overlooked something really basic, but I think I got it all right.

Unfortunately the i5-9600k isn't compatible with your motherboard despite it being the 'same' socket: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H110M-PRO-VD#support-cpu

You'd need a 300-series chipset motherboard, eg. z390 for the i5-9600k to work.

Then should I just get a new motherboard?
If so, which one do you recommend? Please have in mind I don't have a lot of money to spare.

If you want to use the i5-9600k then, yes, you'd need a new motherboard. At least your RAM will still be compatible. A little sorting in PCPartPicker gives us these as options:

See if there's anything there within your budget. You may want to get further opinions or check reviews for those for peace of mind too.
